What Are Batteries?

Batteries are the electrochemical cells that are used for the storage of the energy and can be used latter on. There are various varieties of the batteries that are used in the multiple places. Some of the common uses of the batteries include the use of battery in a mobile phone as cell phone batteries, use of battery in a car as car batteries, use of battery in a laptop as laptop batteries and various other uses of battery. There are various types of the electrochemical cells but the battery is the electrical system that is used with the combinations of the cells.

Types Of Batteries

There are two basic types of the batteries, firstly primary battery, and secondly, secondary battery. The first one is the deposable battery while the second one is the rechargeable batteries. In both of the batteries the chemistry is the conversion of the chemical energy in to the electrical energy. The energy consumed from the battery is in the form of the electrical energy. The difference between the disposable and the rechargeable battery is that in the disposable after the specific time period the charge of the battery gets lower and the battery needs to be replaced with the new one while in the rechargeable you can charge it and can use again and again.

Popularity Of Batteries

Although the popularity of the batteries is always there but the real fame started in the 1800 when the technological development was carried out. The use of the batteries increased in this time period and the batteries replaced other sources of energy consumptions. Today almost in most of the electronics battery system is used and the rechargeable system is mostly preferred because of its long term use. The other uses of the battery include the camera batteries, camcorder batteries, and the golf cart batteries.

Working Of Batteries

There are two major categories adopted for the classification of the batteries as mentioned above but talking about the working of them separately it has been observed that in the primary batteries the chemical energy is reversibly transferred to the electrical energy. When the energy gradient or the difference is settles between the two poles of the battery it no longer converts the energy and the battery needs to be replaced. On the other hand in the secondary the reversible conversion of energy take place as during the conversion the charges are reversed again and again to keep a gradient.

The use of the both systems vary and also depends on the type of electronic under use like previously the primary batteries were used in the telegraphs and the chargeable were used with the heavy work of the battery so that it can be economical in use. In some of the batteries there is a display unit which depicts about the charging of the battery in the case of the secondary batteries. After the completion of the battery charge it alerts the user. Moreover, there are various chemicals are used in the process of conversion of the chemical energy in to the electrical energy like the two terminals of battery contain the two types of charges the negative and the positive. The battery goes on working until the two poles of the battery gets the same gradient of negative and the positive charges. You can get the battery in various forms and the various brands like the batteries plus and the AA batteries.
